Overview
Experience Wētā Workshop Unleashed at SkyCity in Auckland. A 90 minute movie-making tour where you explore interactive and immersive make-believe film sets, focusing on the worlds of horror, fantasy and sci-fi.
It's your chance to get up-close and hands-on with enchanting environments, resident creatures, hyper-realistic giants, a galactic robot, and much more.

Part 1: Horror
The animatronics and prosthetics department are working on the horror film Fauna. Visitors who dare, may enter the claustrophobic horror film set, where something lingers in the shadows..
Part 2: Fantasy
Enter our very own Artists’ Shed, a peaceful haven that shows the process of fantasy world-building through the imaginations of concept artists, who dream up a world designed for the epic movie Age of the Ever-Clan. Step through the curtain and enter their fantastical world….
Part 3: Sci-fi
It’s time to walk onto a film set of the science fiction adventure movie Origins. Projected light plays across the stage and a stunning light display with an epic intergalactic soundtrack begins. A gigantic robot and epic spaceship immerse you in an atmospheric sci-fi wonder.
Where to go
Wētā Workshop Unleashed is located on level 5 at 88 Federal St, Auckland (opposite the Sky Tower).
We recommend arriving 15 minutes before your booked time.
We are a quick 10-minute walk from Britomart – Auckland’s central bus and train station, and the Intercity Bus terminal is close by.

Before you book please note that Wētā Workshop Unleashed includes some horror elements. These may be disturbing for children, or unsuitable for guests with medical conditions aggravated by fright, stress, or lights. Parental guidance is recommended. If you have any concerns please contact [email protected] before your tour departs.
For guests with sensory processing sensitivity (SPS), comfort tools are welcome.
We can accommodate a range of accessibility requirements. During the experience there are slight inclines and declines in flooring, it is recommended that wheelchairs have brakes. Elevator access to level 5 is available via Federal Street and Albert Street. We do have a small part of the horror section at Wētā Workshop Unleashed in Auckland that isn't wheelchair accessible, but it's skippable and our tour guides will take guests through an alternative route. We are continually improving and enhancing our experiences to ensure we can cater for as wide an audience as possible. This includes visual and hearing-impaired visitors. If you have special requirements, please contact us to chat with our crew.
