Have you ever dreamed of a fantasy world and imagined every tiny detail of its landscape, colour, texture and shape? Have you ever wished you could create it, make it into something real, and explore how it would look once it's been constructed?
At our 'Intro into world building' creative workshop, our crew will teach the basic tricks of the trade to help you turn your imagination into reality. Experience what it’s like to be a practical effects artist, making real miniature environments and landscapes for a setting in a movie scene.
First, your tour:
Wētā Workshop Unleashed - 90 mins
Wētā Workshop Unleashed is a fantastical realm created by the Oscar-winning artisans of Wētā Workshop. Built upon three fully realized and completely original film concepts, you are invited to discover the wonder of filmmaking firsthand.
Hosted by enthusiastic guides, you will be led through a fantastical version of our movie making workshop.
Second, your workshop:
Intro into world building - 80 mins
Turn your fantasy world, into reality.
Creating a physical miniature landscape that feels like a real environment with believable elements, isn't as hard as you think. You need to be creative, yes, but our Unleashed crew will help you extract your inner artist and teach you the skills you need to create your imaginary world.
You’ll be guided through a Workshop brief based on our original fantasy movie, the Age of the Ever-Clan, featured in the Wētā Workshop Unleashed experience. Your crew member will take you through the brief, examine the movie scene to understand the miniature required, and then dive right into the techniques needed to bring that scene to life.
Feel what it's like to be a movie artist!
Everything you need to create your fantasy world will be provided, along with personal instruction so you can craft a truly believable environment. Workshop sizes are limited so that everyone can get the personalised attention they need to have fun and create something amazing.

You’ll receive a Certificate of Creativity upon completion of the workshop.
