What to expect
Guided return transfers: Journey from Wellington to Mount Victoria, where the infamous ‘Get Off the Road’ scene was shot, to Wētā Workshop and back again in your dedicated shuttle. Don a cloak and choose from a range of props to stage your scene. Your transfers will be fully guided. Pick up and drop off will be from 145 Wakefield Street (i-SITE bus bay.)
A peek behind the scenes: Our team will transport you to our specially designed group tour space. Explore, enjoy and digest the stories from the fantasy worlds we feature there. A Wētā Workshop technician (and original LOTR crew member) will meet you here for a Q+A about their days on set with the fellowship.
Guest Speakers and Q&A: Two Wētā Workshop technicians will join your experience to answer all your quiziest questions. Both artists worked on the original films and have been with Wētā Workshop ever since.
Wētā Workshop Experience: We’ll show you around the original Wētā Workshop tour space, in a specially modified area of the workshop. We’ll guide you through some more of the history of Wētā Workshop and look at the work accomplished by our team over the last 20 years.
Explore the Wētā Cave: A cavern of creativity in its own right! Head to the heart of Wētā Workshop, the Wētā Cave. Check out our newly installed costume display, featuring never-before-seen costumes from the films.
Food & drink: Nibbles and non-alcoholic drinks will be available at our group tour space courtesy of The Larder, please advise us of any dietaries at the time of booking.
Note: We recommend wearing sturdy and comfortable footwear. Middle-earth themed attire is most welcome!
